Kraft Foods Group ( NASDAQ : KRFT) was a North America company based in Northfield, Illinois , a suburb of Chicago . The company emerged on October 1, 2012 from the split of Kraft Foods into two independent listed companies and was responsible for food activities in the North American market. While the Kraft Foods Group was founded as a spin-off, the other half of the company, which is active worldwide and focuses on snacks and confectionery, was renamed and has been trading under the name Mondelēz International ever since . In July 2015, the Kraft Foods Group merged with the HJ Heinz Company to form The Kraft Heinz Company . The investor Warren Buffett was significantly involved in this.
