A1 is an industrially produced seasoning sauce that is particularly widespread in the Anglo-Saxon region and is mostly used for steaks and hamburgers . The sauce was originally developed in 1824 by Henderson William Brand, cook to King George IV of Great Britain .

The first distributor of the sauce in the United States was GF Heublein & Brothers . Today's manufacturer is the Kraft Foods Group .

Tomato puree (water, tomato paste), distilled vinegar, corn syrup, salt, raisin paste, orange puree, spices and herbs, dried garlic and dried onions, coloring: caramel (E-150), preservative: potassium sorbate (E202), thickening agent: xanthan, celery seeds.
