Andi Gutmans

Andi Gutmans is an Israeli programmer , PHP developer, and co-founder of Zend Technologies .

Gutmans is a graduate of the Technion in Haifa ; Together with his fellow student Zeev Suraski , he developed PHP 3 in 1997. In 1999 he wrote the Zend Engine , the "core" of PHP 4, and founded the company Zend Technologies, which has since been authoritative for PHP development and which Gutmans is currently doing as CEO directs. The name Zend is derived from the first names of the developers, Zeev and Andi.

Gutmans is also a member of the Apache Software Foundation ; he was nominated for the FSF Award for the Advancement of Free Software in 1999.

In 2004 he wrote the book "PHP 5 Power Programming" together with Stig Bakken and Derick Rethans .
