Zeev Suraski
Zeev Suraski ( Hebrew זאב סורסקי) is an Israeli software developer and has been working on the PHP project since 1997 . While working in the Web Development Department of Netvision , Israel 's largest ISP , Suraski became familiar with PHP / FI and decided to use it in a Technion University Web Project on which he worked with Andi Gutmans .
During their work on the project, they repeatedly encountered bugs and the limits of PHP / FI 2.0. They decided to let the project rest and rewrite PHP with some of the most popular modules . This was the cornerstone for PHP 3.
Suraski and Gutmans then developed the Zend Engine - the scripting language behind PHP 4. They also designed other important PHP 4 components, such as: B. the server abstraction layer and the multithreading support. Zeev Suraski is the Co-Founder and CTO of Zend Technologies .
Gutman and Suraski's work on the PHP core has been repeatedly honored:

- 1999 LinuxWorld Editor's Choice Awards

Contribution to PHP:
- Co-developer of the Zend engine
- Co-developer of the PHP / Zend extension API
- ported PHP 4 to Win32
- Co-SAPI Web server abstraction - layer for PHP 4
- developed the ISAPI / IIS SAPI modules, co-developed the Apache SAPI module
- developed the MySQL , mSQL , Sybase and PostgreSQL modules
- developed the output buffering of PHP 4.0.
