András Schiffer

András Schiffer (born June 19, 1971 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian lawyer and politician. He was the top candidate of the Hungarian Green Party , Lehet Más a Politika , founded in 2009, in the Hungarian parliamentary elections in 2010 .

From 1990 to 1995 he studied state , law and political science at the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest; he obtained the Dr. jur. 1995. From 1995 to 1997 he completed postgraduate studies in human ecology .

From 2002 to 2008 Schiffer was active in the civil society environmental and civil rights organization Védegylet . In 2005 this organization nominated its co-founder László Sólyom for the office of President of Hungary. Schiffer had worked on Sólyom's ultimately successful election campaign.

At the end of May 2016, Schiffer announced his retirement from politics as co-chairman and parliamentary group leader of the LMP party.
