André Gilbert
André Gilbert (* in Pontoise , France ) was a French sculptor of Art Deco .
Life
Gilbert's life dates are not known in the literature. In the 1920s he made some chryselephantine statuettes made of bronze, ivory and marble in the Art Deco style for the fine art foundries Edmond Etling and Les Neveux de Jules Lehmann . His subjects included characters from the Commedia dell'arte such as Pierrot and Colombina .
According to Eric Knowles, "[André Gilbert] impressed with high quality and innovative Art Deco themes".
