André Groult
André Groult (born August 27, 1884 in France , † 1966 ) was a French craftsman and interior designer .
Life
In 1907, Groult married Nicole Poiret, sister of the French fashion designer Paul Poiret . In the 1920s and 1930s he became known for his Art Nouveau- style designs . He used ebony, ivory, lacquer and fish leather in many cases.
He is also described as a leading designer of Art Deco . In 1925 Groult exhibited a sideboard covered with fish leather at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern in Paris . The piece of furniture in pink and gray for a woman's room made of beech, mahogany and ivory with the dimensions 150 × 77 × 32 cm is now in the possession of the Parisian Musée des Arts décoratifs .
In 1935 he was commissioned to design and equip a luxury suite for the new building of the French passenger ship Normandie .

The writers Benoîte Groult and Flora Groult came from his marriage to Nicole Poiret . Benoîte's daughter Lison de Caunes is a well-known artist in the field of marquetry .
