André Kabile (born November 23, 1938 in Saint-Esprit , Martinique ), also André Kabyle , is a former French football player .
Career
Kabile started playing football in his youth and continued to do so after moving from Martinique to metropolitan France in Europe with his family. There he ran for a club from Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône , for which he was an amateur player in adulthood. He aroused the interest of the neighboring first division club Olympique Nîmes and his coach Kader Firoud , so that he was signed by him in 1964 at the age of 25. In the course of his first season as a professional, he became a regular player and entered the relegation battle, which in 1967 led to the second division. A year later, the team ended Kabiles only second division season with the return to the top division. By being used in all 38 games, he had a significant share in the fourth place in the table of his team in the 1970/71 season.
Despite his increasing age, he remained an integral part of the team and led the French national coach Ștefan Kovács in 1974 to say that Kabile was the best left-back in France. His old age of 36 years, however, prevented the coach from being appointed to the national team. He remained loyal to his club and was allowed to keep his regular place until his physical abilities had deteriorated too much. As a result, he announced after his last of 431 first division games with seven goals, to which 34 second division games come with one goal, in August 1978 shortly before his 40th birthday, the end of his career. He then worked from 1979 to 1985 at a lower-class club from La Grande Combe as a player-coach and was later responsible for local sport for the city of Nîmes .
