Andrés de Sola

Andrés de Sola (born November 30, 1634 in Tudela ; died April 21, 1696 in Saragossa ) was a Spanish composer and organist from Navarre .

life and work

Andrés de Sola began his studies in Tudela , Navarra , with his uncle Melchor Ximénez . He later went to Saragossa, where his uncle Jusepe Ximénez worked on La Seo . He followed him when his uncle died. Sebastián Durón was one of his students. Andrés de Sola died while playing Mass on Holy Saturday . His works are kept in the City Library of Porto (Portugal) and the National Library in Madrid . The musicologist Lothar Siemens Hernández has recently made a name for himself in researching his work.
