Andrea Cagnetti , artist name Akelo (born March 16, 1967 in Corchiano ), is an Italian goldsmith , designer and sculptor. He also deals with ancient metalworking processes.

biography

After graduating from high school, he moved to Rome for a few years and worked there as a commercial artist. At the same time he deepened his knowledge in the study of writings and documents about the ancient goldsmith's art, as well as metallurgy and alchemy . In addition to theoretical training, he combined extensive practical work in materials experimentation and process engineering. Cagnetti devoted himself completely to the goldsmith's activity and that of the sculptor for sculptures made of gold, bronze and iron, henceforth under the artist name Akelo (from the Greek " Acheloos ", the Greek god of water).

Since 2010, Cagnetti has been creating the bronze work entitled "Hope" for the Robert Bresson Prize awarded by the Vatican , which is awarded every year during the Venice Film Festival . In the 2010s, some of his works of art were acquired by museums and private collections. Andrea Cagnetti lives and works in Corchiano , where he also writes scientific articles on the techniques of ancient gold jewelry making.
