Andrea De Santis

Andrea De Santis (* 1964 in Rome ) is an Italian philosopher .

Life

He completed his studies in Catholic theology at the S. Anselmo University in Rome in 1988 with a doctorate ( Laurea ) in philosophy (aesthetics) at the University of Tor Vergata in 1994 and his habilitation ( Dottorato di Ricerca ) in philosophy there in 1999. From 1988 to 2000 he was a religion teacher at a state high school in Rome. Since 1996 he has been a visiting professor at the Philosophical Faculty of the S. Anselmo University in Rome , where he has held the Chair of Philosophy there since 2000 (full professor since 2004, full professor since 2014).

His main research interests are phenomena and the event of seeing as an aesthetic, philosophical and mystical act, the status of the image as a mediation between the eye and the world and the interplay between appearance and perception.
