action
The general manager of the Siethoff hotel group Markus Winter travels to the Maldives to visit his daughter Leonie, who runs one of the group's luxury hotels there, on the occasion of her birthday. Surprisingly, Markus meets his former love Eva Ruland again, who is spending her vacation with her adult daughter Nikola in the dream hotel. Leonie suspects that Nikola may be her half-sister. Curious and also jealous, she searches for evidence.
The stressed manager Alexander Weigand reluctantly started the dream trip to the island paradise that was given to him. He cannot switch off in the Maldives and continues to control his company using his cell phone. Completely exasperated, he notices after his arrival that his suitcase was swapped on the way. After some research it turns out that the owner of the other suitcase is the marine biologist Sandra Bohland, who tends to keep sea turtles on a small island. Alexander Weigand visits Sandra on her island. He doesn't just want to swap suitcases. Indiscreetly, he read Sandra's diary, which was in her suitcase, and deeply moved by the woman's fate, he really wants to get to know her. The encounter ultimately leads to Alexander transforming his life completely.
Stefan Färber has problems of a completely different kind. His daughter Lena does not want to put up with the fact that Stefan wants to marry again after Lena's mother dies. The defiant girl completely rejects Stefan's new love, Greta Junghans, and suddenly disappears after an argument. Markus Winter goes on a search. He finds Lena and ensures a happy ending.

criticism
Tittelbach.tv commented on the Maldives in 2018as follows: “[…] The landscape and underwater images are nice to look at. And the quit and purification fairy tale about a workaholic and a turtle rescuer solicits the audience's compassion with some success. But everything else bothered: these stories with their drawing board daddies and bikini blondes, these thin plots, these stupidly fluffed up conflicts and these solutions of the most banal kind.
