Otto Retzer
Otto Werner Retzer (born September 13, 1945 in Lölling , Hüttenberg municipality , Carinthia ) is an Austrian actor and director for numerous works by Lisa Film GmbH .
Life
Otto Retzer's father was a farmer and his mother was a postman. He grew up in Carinthia in a side valley of the Görtschitztal . After an apprenticeship as a waiter, he became a disc jockey and water ski instructor until the head of Lisa Film, Karl Spiehs , discovered him in 1970, hired him as an assistant and initially entrusted him with small tasks related to his staff. In the film Rudi, behave yourself! Retzer was seen for the first time in an unnamed guest appearance as a camping guard in 1971. At that time still with full hair, he had to replace a bald actor in the 1978 film The Island of a Thousand Delights . The shaved head became Retzer's trademark from then on. He became popular in the television series Ein Schloß am Wörthersee as a guest worker Josip. In 1983 he directed the film Babystrich im Sperrgebiet himself for the first time . Due to the low budget, real pimps and prostitutes were used instead of actors. Nevertheless, the film was a huge success with 1.2 million viewers. This was followed by other sex films such as Love Call and 1984 the Zote Her mit die kleine Schweinchen . His works are often not recognized - u. a. the entertainment films such as Starke Zeiten 1988 with Karl Dall and TV series such as Ein Schloß am Wörthersee and Klinik unter Palmen , he is still considered a busy television director. In 2004 he had ratings of up to 8.7 million for the TV series Das Traumhotel .
In total, Otto W. Retzer acted around 120 times as production manager and around ninety times as director.
As a producer, Retzer u. a. responsible for sex and horror films as well as entertainment films with Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger ( Die Supernasen 1983, Seitenstechen 1985).
He shot twelve of his films in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic , especially the episodes of the series Klinik unter Palmen .
On the recommendation of film experts, O. W. Retzer received the Golden Decoration of Honor of the Republic of Austria from Minister of Culture Josef Ostermayer in 2014 , Uschi Glas and Melitta Trunk gave the laudatory speech .
Retzer is married and has two children, including the film editor Olivia Retzer . He lives in Austria on Lake Wörthersee.
From March to May 2017, Retzer was a candidate in the ORF dance show Dancing Stars .
