action

The doctor Hannes Fröhlich, who has just received his doctorate, is offered a position in the hospital by Professor Rodenburg. On his first day at work, he befriends the little girl Stefanie. By chance he overhears a couple of nurses speculating that he was only offered the job through his friendship with Clarissa, the professor's daughter. Disappointed, Hannes decided against the hospital. In the evening he learned from his roommate, Hansi, that he had received a telegram from his uncle. The doctor, very popular in his home country, Dr. Bichler asks his nephew to take over the vacation replacement for him. However, since Hansi did not tell his uncle that he had dropped out of medical school, he cannot do his uncle a favor. However, Hannes agrees to do so and sets off.

On his outward journey he meets the young woman Eva Holm, who wants to go to the same place as him with a little boy, Peter. Hannes takes the two of them in his car and brings them to their apartment. Eva, who is new to the area herself, would like to start her new job as a pharmacist the next day.

At the same time as Hannes' first experiences as a doctor in the new area, another storyline takes place around the little girl Stefanie in the Rodenburg hospital. This makes the doctors difficult and refuses from a doctor other than Dr. To be treated happily. The assistant Moritz Morris of the allegedly very wealthy father of the little one therefore travels with her after the young doctor. The girl would like to attend a boarding school there, but the city is supposed to close it for funding. In the following, the viewer learns that Stefanie's father is in jail for a bank robbery, his accomplice Moritz, who is unknown to the police, visits him regularly and keeps the money they have stolen. The two donate this for the maintenance of the boarding school.

In the meantime, Hannes gets to know Eva and Peter better through various entanglements. He learns that Eva is not the mother, but only the aunt of the boy who, completely unsuspecting, is hoping for his father to return soon. He recognizes Hannes as such and wishes that he never leaves again. Hannes and Eva, who fell in love, end up getting married.

additional

The outdoor shots were taken around the villages of Werfen and Pfarrwerfen near Salzburg , including at Hohenwerfen Fortress , which in the film was made into the seat of a children's home, and in the Eisriesenwelt . The pharmacy and dentist scenes were filmed in the Pfarrwirt inn. Christine Schuberth can be seen in the film as an unnamed student of Hansi Kraus . Also unnamed, the bald actor and director Otto Retzer , who later became known, still works with full hair as a riding instructor.

Reviews

"A film especially for everyone who likes Roy Black!"

“These actors have long been an institution. You like them or you don't like them - the question of quality is actually unnecessary. "

- Lothar Lambert : "The evening", 1971

“Roy Black, all in white, doesn't cut a bad figure, sings two or three Schmalz numbers and winds his way smoothly through the threadbare plot. Rating: 1 star (weak) "

- Adolf Heinzlmeier and Berndt Schulz : Lexicon "Films on TV" (1990)
