action

Anna gave her father Karl a trip to Beijing for vacation. Both reach Beijing and move into quarters in Markus Winter, general manager of the Siethoff hotel group. What Karl doesn't know is that Anna wants to marry her fiancé David Wang in Beijing. The doctor and she have been a couple for a long time, but so far Karl has blocked any attempt by Anna to talk to him about David. The main reason for this is the sudden death of Anna's mother. Since then, Karl has clung to Anna. Anna also hides from him that she is expecting a child from David. Even David doesn't know anything about it.

Loretta Boehme and her son Fabian also arrive at the hotel. Loretta is in the country to have a valuable sacrificial vessel from the end of the last imperial dynasty restored. Her son Fabian is by her side as always, she doesn't let him out of her sight for a minute. Two years ago he had a motorcycle accident and has since been dependent on a wheelchair because he can no longer move his legs. While Loretta tries to win over the well-known restorer Thomas Ritter to restore her sacrificial vessel, Fabian visits monasteries with Markus Winter's daughter Leonie and finally spends a night meditating in a monastery.

Anna tries in vain to tell her father about the planned wedding. Karl, however, is convinced that Anna is still young and will find a down-to-earth young man at home. By chance, Karl learns that Anna wants to get married in Beijing. Furious, he lets himself be driven away in a rickshaw . When he wants to gesticulate to the driver some time later and make it clear that he is hungry, the driver takes him to the hospital instead, believing that Karl is suffering from stomach ache. Here David awaits Karl and the misunderstanding is cleared up. David has recognized Karl and invites him to dinner. Karl pours out his heart to him and makes it clear that Anna would hardly love her fiancé if she had otherwise introduced him to Karl much sooner. David defends himself and Anna, although doubts about their love. In the end, Karl notices who he has confided in, but he can no longer take back his words. David thinks Anna doesn't love him and breaks up with her. He drives to a friend in the country to get new ideas.

Anna confesses to Karl that she is expecting a child from David and makes it clear that she loves him. Now Karl tries everything to make up for his mistake. Markus Winter introduces Karl to the country's etiquette and they both visit David's father, Dr. Yong Wang, who is also a doctor like the son. Karl goes to great lengths to obey all interpersonal rules and Dr. Yong Wang ends up agreeing to his son's marriage to Anna. Anna admits she is pregnant and Dr. Yong Wang makes it clear that he would also see himself as a grandfather if his son decided against Anna. Karl and Markus Winter look to David, but he is adamant. Karl forgets etiquette and speaks honestly. Although he has the impression that he has not convinced, he has tried everything. Back in Beijing, Dr. Yong Wang that his son might come after him. He also needed time to decide on his wife. A little later, David appears ruefully in front of Anna and confesses his love to her. They both get back together and end up getting married.

Loretta has meanwhile been able to persuade the repellent Thomas Ritter to restore the valuable sacrificial vessel. Because of his urging, in the end the piece will not be brought to Germany, but rather donated to a Chinese museum. The two of them come closer to each other when they travel together to see specialists in the colors and alloys of the time. Even if Loretta wants to reject every new relationship, she still has a job and is busy with the care of Fabian, she confesses in the end that she fell in love with Thomas. Both become a couple. There is a happy ending for Fabian too. During a meditation exercise in the monastery , he briefly had the feeling that he could feel his whole body. Markus Winter brings Dr. Yong Wang to treat Fabian, and in fact the experienced doctor finds that Fabian's nerve pathways are not severed, but only blocked. He starts treatment. At the wedding of Anna and David, Fabian's toes suddenly move and the young man bursts into tears, overjoyed.
