Brazil is a German-Austrian television film directed by Otto Retzer from 2012 . It is the 18th episode of the film series Das Traumhotel .

action

Markus Winter recently handed over the management of a hotel in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, to his hotel chain Siethoff to his daughter Leonie. Now he is traveling to Salvador because he has learned that thefts have taken place in his hotel that his daughter has not reported. This is precisely how Markus was able to prevent a reputation-damaging article by a journalist. Markus checks into his hotel under a false name and goes in search of the thief. Erroneous orders in the hotel and other things that go wrong in the administration are also puzzling to Leonie.

Various guests are enrolled in the hotel: writer Sarah Ingenhoven is there with her little son Anton, but has no time for her child because she has to finish her latest novel. Pensioner Leopold Wagner has arrived with his alleged wife Henriette and is assigned the honeymoon suite on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary.

Markus suspects the singer of the hotel Ricardo, who regularly leaves the hotel with various things and drives to the city center. Anton often accompanies him to play football with the street children in town. Ricardo has started a relationship with Leonie, which Markus displeases. He also sees him exchanging kisses with a strange woman and now believes that Ricardo is cheating on Leonie. Further research reveals that Ricardo does not study as claimed and does not have a school leaving certificate. In his pocket there is also Anton's MP3 player, which is considered stolen. Leopold and Henriette also make each other suspicious, as neither of them are married as claimed, Henriette tends to fool around in various situations and cocky “borrows” a vintage car from a car exhibition on the hotel grounds to take Leopold on a tour. Leopold's son Götz arrives with his wife Silke because Leopold has disappeared from an old people's home in Austria. He believes that Henriette is only after the father's money, but it turns out that Henriette is wealthy herself and in the last phase of her life just wants to make up for everything she has missed so far. Ricardo also turns out to be innocent, as the strange woman is his sister. The things he brought into town were just food for the poor street children who were no longer needed in the hotel.

In the end everything is cleared up: The receptionist and representative of Leonies, Bea Trees, is responsible for the organizational mistakes of the hotel, who couldn't get over the fact that Leonie became the hotel manager in her place. Leonie still gives her a second chance. The thefts were carried out by Anton, who found it unfair that the poor street children have nothing, but the hotel guests have everything. He returns all stolen things. Leonie and Ricardo are now becoming a couple again, after Markus could acquit Ricardo of all suspicions.

criticism

For the film service , Das Traumhotel - Brazil was "undemanding, trivial (television) entertainment that varied well-known plot elements of the series."

The TV Spielfilm gave the film the worst rating (thumbs down), called it a “TV vacation monzette” and wrote: “The setting for 'Brazil' comes from the postcard stand of a hotel lobby: blue water, white beaches, plus one a little social project, a little football, and the famous carnival shouldn't be missing either. Conclusion: Problem Samba under the Sugar Loaf. "
