occupation

The island of a thousand joys is a German erotic and exploitation film by Hubert Frank, made at the end of 1977 .

action

The setting is the tropical island of Mauritius. Michael had once had some success as a professional tennis player and made a lot of money. As success went downhill, he began to turn to gambling. Since then he has incurred considerable debts, which a rather unscrupulous fellow named Howard is now trying to collect from him. Michael's aunt, Lady Henriette, refuses to help him, even though she could afford it financially. Thereupon Michael's blonde lover Sylvia tries, with this film title as naturally as expected nymphomaniac, to persuade the married to the pretty and no less blonde Julie to murder aunty because of her millions. Michael doesn't really want to, and so the crook Howard and his torturer Ming turn up other sides: some pretty young women, such as the dark housemaid Lady Henriettes, are kidnapped, who are to be sold as naked slaves in the tropical paradise.

But now a young lady named Peggy steps in. She is a private detective by profession and, on behalf of Lady Henriette, is supposed to prevent the unstable Michael from committing too big stupid things. Soon all the young women involved also temporarily fall into the hands of the slave trader Howard, who is looking forward to new "fresh meat". But instead there is a lively sapling-change game. While Michael soon loses himself on the beach with Peggy, his lover and wife are naked together in the hot tropical sand of Mauritius. Only Ming can continue to swing the whip with relish. But at some point everything dissolves in favor: Howard disappears just as unexpectedly as the girls are released again - the housemaid is freed by her lover, Henriette's gardener. Even the two depraved, villainous hobby lesbians Sylvia and Julie do not have to fear punishment, but leave the island, bathing naked on a yacht, in intimate harmony. Peggy and the excused Michael can look forward to a future together.

criticism

“A private detective solves several criminal cases on an island in the Indian Ocean. An adventure film that turns into a comedy at the end with a lot of sex, some crime and sadism. The style of the film presented as the 'Emanuela' epigone is also modest. "
