Andrea Heistinger

Andrea Heistinger (born April 1974 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian gardening author, agricultural scientist and organizational consultant . She is an expert in organic horticulture, variety diversity and self-sufficiency.

Career

Heistinger attended the Piarist high school in Vienna. After graduating from high school in 1992, she studied agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. She wrote her diploma thesis at the Institute for History of the University of Vienna, it was published in 2002 in Edition Löwenzahn of the study publisher Innsbruck. Books followed that she wrote on behalf of the Arche Noah association (Schiltern / Lower Austria). To this end, she worked with experts from non-governmental organizations , government organizations and commercial horticulturalists in order to integrate horticultural experience and make it accessible to a broad audience. The seed nursery manual from 2004 is considered a standard work and was also published in English in 2013 and in French in 2015.

Heistinger received book prizes from the German Horticultural Society in 2011 and 2014 and in 2015 the French garden book prize Prix pratique (Le prix PJ Redouté) from the French horticultural society l'Association des jardins du Maine (JASPE).

From 2000 to 2008 Heistinger was involved in research and regional development projects for the state of South Tyrol, as well as a lecturer at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and the University of Vienna. Another focus of her work is adult education in agriculture and horticulture.

Heistinger is a trained systemic consultant in Switzerland (at the Meilen training institute) and has been working as a management consultant since 2018. The focus of her activities includes the coaching of executives as well as the support of change processes in companies and organizations. One focus of her work is advising and supporting family businesses.

Heistinger lives with her family in St. Pölten. She is the mother of two sons.
