Andrea Pizzini (born October 4, 1977 in Mezzolombardo , Trentino , Italy ) is an Italian filmmaker. He lives in Salurn .

Life

In 1996 he graduated from the ZELIG film and television school in Bolzano. Since 2001 he has been working as a documentary filmmaker for the production company helios .

He mostly shoots his films in Latin America. The focus is on social issues (war, poverty, economy, human rights). In 2001 he and the entire film group were expelled from Ecuador while filming "The She-Wolf and the Snake". This was due to the critical attitude towards the construction of the OCP (oleoducto de crudos pesados), an oil pipeline that now crosses the entire Ecuadorian jungle area. The film was broadcast by the Italian national state broadcaster RAITRE.

In 2003 he made a documentary in Cochabamba ( Bolivia ) about one of the world's first attempts to privatize water. After the privatization of the water supply forced by the International Monetary Fund , the new company Aguas de Tunari (subsidiary of the American Bechtel Group) tripled water prices within a very short time. This led to violent protests and a general strike in early 2000. Violence escalated after protesters clashed with police and in April 2000 martial law was declared on the city. In mid-April 2000, the government finally withdrew from privatization. A total of seven people died and hundreds were injured. Parts of the film were broadcast several times by the national state broadcasters RAIDUE and RAITRE. In 2003 the film was sold across Italy through the weekly CARTA.
