Andrea Vilter (born 1966 in Cologne ) is a dramaturge and professor for dramaturgy and directing in the field of stage and costume design at the Berlin-Weißensee Academy of Art ( spelling : Weißensee Kunsthochschule berlin). She lives in Berlin .

biography

While studying literature and theater studies in Mainz and Berlin, Andrea Vilter worked in various functions at the theater, including at the Hebbel Theater in Berlin, at the Schauspiel Bonn , at the Kleist Theater in Frankfurt (Oder) at the Hildesheim City Theater . At the same time she played a major role in the studio stage newly founded by Bernd Mottl and Marcel Pomplun at the Free University of Berlin . She also worked there in various positions, including as a dramaturge, director and from 1993 to 1997 as head of the studio stage.

In 1994 she completed an internship with Corinna Brocher at the Rowohlt Theater Verlag Reinbek and then worked there until 2000 as a freelance editor. In 1999 she received a one-year scholarship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, where she led an international academy theater festival in cooperation with the Staatstheater Stuttgart on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the academy and edited several publications.

In 2001, Hans-Joachim Ruckhäberle brought her to the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel as dramaturge under Dieter Dorn , where she worked with directors Tina Lanik, Franz Xaver Kroetz , Amelié Niermeier, Uwe Eric Laufenberg and Jan Philipp Gloger until 2008 . In 2006 she was on the jury of the Stückemarkt at the Berliner Theatertreffen with Lukas Bärfuß and David Bösch, in 2007 she was a juror for the authors' advancement award and then several times as a dramaturge at the Stückemarkt.

In 2003 she took on a teaching position at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, where she taught acting and directing students until 2014. In this context she cooperated several times with Katrin Brack and her stage design class at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. From 2008 she worked in the same position at the Mozarteum Salzburg. From 2012 to 2014 she was a visiting professor for direction and dramaturgy at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. She also worked as a freelance dramaturge, including at the Burgtheater Vienna, where she worked with the directors Stefan Bachmann (Winterreise by Elfriede Jelinek, Nestroy Prize 2011) and Luc Bondy (Molière Tartuffe, in coproduction with the Wiener Festwochen).

From 2014 to 2016 Andrea Vilter was director of acting and chief dramaturge at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden . Since 2016 she has been professor for dramaturgy and direction in the field of stage and costume design at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art.
