Jan Philipp Gloger (* 1981 in Hagen ) is a German theater and opera director .

education

After graduating from high school, Jan Philipp Gloger studied applied theater studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and directing at the Zurich University of the Arts . He was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . During his training, he sat in with Johan Simons , assisted the Rimini Protokoll group and worked as a stage musician. Con scenica scienza io saprei la movenza was shown at the Ruhrtriennale 2005, the scenic concert Verve at the Frankfurt Positions 2006, Biedermann and the Arsonists after Max Frisch at the director's school festival “Körber Studio Junge Regie” 2007 at the Thalia Theater Hamburg .

Since 2007 Gloger Schauspiel has staged at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich , the Theater Augsburg , the State Theater Mainz , the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen, the Schaubühne in Berlin, the State Theater Wiesbaden and the State Theater Dresden . His productions have been awarded prizes at the Mülheim Theater Days , the Bavarian Theater Days and the Heidelberg Play Market . There was also a shortlist for the Berlin Theatertreffen and several nominations for the best young director in the critics' survey conducted by Theater heute magazine . In addition, his productions by Così fan tutte were nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award in 2017 .

Jan Philipp Gloger gave lectures at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Center for Literary Research in Berlin and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt. He has been involved in publications on the practice of directing and copyright issues in productions and has published texts in Theater der Zeit and in the British Guardian.
