Andreas Brandts (born April 9, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player and coach.
Player career
Brandts began his career at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1981/1982 season. However, since he could not get beyond a reservist existence, he moved for the 1983/1984 season first to the Netherlands for VVV Venlo and in the following season to the 2nd Bundesliga at Alemannia Aachen . After two very successful years for him personally, in which he scored a total of 25 goals, he returned to Borussia in the summer of 1986. Here, however, only the role of the "Joker" remained for him, so that in the current 1987/1988 season he once again accepted the path to the second division at the Aachen Alemannia. After one and a half seasons as a regular player, he moved to Fortuna Cologne in 1989 . For this club he was active for seven seasons before ending his career in 1996. He played a total of 33 Bundesliga games in which he scored three goals. He also came in his Gladbach time in the 1986/1987 season to five appearances in the UEFA Cup (home and away games against Belgrade and Feyenoord Rotterdam in the 1st and 2nd round and quarter-final second leg at Vitória Guimarães ) and was able to participate in the game Partizan Belgrade also scored a personal goal at international level. In the 2nd Bundesliga he played a total of 320 games and scored 53 goals in these.
Coaching
At his ex-club Borussia Mönchengladbach, he was employed as a youth coach after the end of his career and later took over the position of co-trainer at Borussia Mönchengladbach II. In this position he worked until June 30, 2010. He was also a coach for Schorsch Dreßens Mobile Football Camp active. In the second half of the 2011/12 season Brandts took over the training of the A-Kreisligist SC Schiefbahn with whom he was promoted to the district league in 2014.
