Andreas Ermacora (born June 23, 1960 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian lawyer and association official. Since the beginning of 2013 he has been President of the Austrian Alpine Club .

Life

Ermacora attended school in Innsbruck and studied law at the Leopold Franzens University in his hometown. In 1988 he passed the bar exam and has since been a lawyer and expert in Innsbruck specializing in real estate law, sports law and alpine law.

According to his own statements, Ermacora discovered his enthusiasm for mountain sports with the armed forces . Since 1992 he has been a member of the presidium of the Austrian Alpine Club, which with almost 600,000 members (as of December 31, 2019) is the largest Alpine club in Austria and the second largest worldwide after the German Alpine Club. At the end of 2012, the previous club president Christian Wadsack resigned for professional reasons, and Ermacora became his successor.

He is the son of international lawyer and politician Felix Ermacora , who himself was president of the Austrian Alpine Association from 1968 to 1971. His son Martin Ermacora is a well-known professional beach volleyball player.
