Andreas Felber (conductor)

Andreas Felber (* 1983 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss conductor and singer.

Life

Growing up in Lucerne, Felber was a long-time member of the Lucerne Singing Boys and received his first singing lessons there. He studied conducting and singing at the Lucerne School of Music and graduated from both courses with honors. Andreas Felber trained in master classes and workshops with various conductors, including Ton Koopman and Johannes Prinz . He also took part in master classes for singing with Margreet Honig, Mariëtte Nollen and Jakob Stämpfli.

The main focus of his conducting work is in the areas of choral music and musical theater. He was a guest at the Lucerne Theater, was musical director of the Walensee Stage in 2010 and 2012 and conducted at the City Theater Sursee.

Since 2017 he has been a professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover and has since led the Hanover Girls' Choir in dual leadership with Gudrun Schröfel . On January 1, 2019, Andreas Felber took over the sole artistic direction of the girls' choir. He also leads the choirs “molto cantabile” and “ProMusicaViva”, with which he has celebrated national and international successes. "Molto cantabile" has won prizes at various international choir competitions (including Tolosa, Cork, Spittal an der Drau). Since 2011 he has also been conducting the Swiss Youth Choir together with his colleague Dominique Tille.

Andreas Felber is the musical director of the professional Davos Festival Chamber Choir.
