Andreas Antonius Maria Kinneging (born February 26, 1962 in Eindhoven ) is a Dutch philosopher .

Life

He grew up in a Catholic family in the Dutch province of Zeeland . He studied political science at the University of Nijmegen and graduated with the highest honors. After graduating, he took a position at Prof. Dr. BM Teldersstichting , a think tank of the liberal party VVD . In his years with the Teldersstichting, Kinneging developed into a productive and influential author of the philosophy of classical liberalism .

In the early 1990s, Kinneging became increasingly dissatisfied with classical liberalism. He strongly contradicted the tendency towards social liberalism within the VVD. Kinneging eventually resigned from the party in 1999.

Kinneging returned to university after briefly working for the Dutch Ministry of Finance . In the late 1980s, he moved to the Department of Public Administration at Leiden University as an assistant professor , teaching students such as future MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali and conservative activist Joshua Livestro.

In 1996, Kinneging moved to the law faculty at Leiden University, the oldest and most respected of the Dutch law faculties. Kinneging was quickly promoted to full professor and on August 1, 2004 appointed full professor of legal philosophy. His areas of expertise are law, political philosophy, ethics, axiology , deontology and constitutional theory.
