Andreas Lischka

Andreas Lischka (born December 3, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian pediatrician . From 1991 to 2012 he was head of the Glanzing Children's Clinic in the Wilhelminenspital of the City of Vienna.

Life

Andreas Lischka attended the humanistic Schottengymnasium in Vienna. After training as a military pilot, he completed his medical studies at the University of Vienna from 1967 and obtained his doctorate in medicine in 1972 (Dr. med.univ). After a year of research at the anatomical institute of the medical faculty, he completed his training as a general practitioner at the KH Mistelbach and began his specialist training at the Preyer's Children's Hospital in Vienna.

From 1976 he worked as a university assistant at the University Children's Clinic Vienna, the Children's Hospital Zurich and the Children's Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf. After stays abroad in Paris, Bath / Somerset and Boston (Children's Hospital), completed specialist training in paediatrics at the Vienna General Hospital (1980). Additive specialist training in neonatological intensive care medicine (1983), additive specialist training in neuropsychiatry for children and adolescents (1986) and in neurophysiology (EEG) 1987. Andreas Lischka completed his habilitation in 1987 in pediatrics with the thesis on "New aspects of pathophysiology and differential diagnosis less common forms of neonatal hypoglycaemia ". He completed his hospital management training at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) with a thesis on "Quality assurance in neonatology".

Lischka has been medical director and board member of the Children's Clinic of the City of Vienna Glanzing since 1991, and since 1992 associate professor for paediatrics at the medical faculty of the University of Vienna. In 1999 the children's clinic in Glanzing was relocated to the Wilhelminenspital of the City of Vienna. The children's department and the psychosomatic department were merged, as was the care of neonatology at the Semmelweis Women's Clinic. Lischka opened the first “baby nest” in Austria in the Wilhelminenspital in 2000, directly linked to neonatology and psychosomatics.

The City of Vienna's Health Prize has been awarded several times for other innovative projects at the Glanzing children's clinic in the Wilhelminenspital. (Model of interdisciplinary, holistic aftercare for premature and risk-born children; multi-professional collaboration within the framework of a psychosomatic child and youth clinic ; homeopathic clinic at the Glanzing children's clinic ). As part of Clean Med Europe he received the “Best Practice Award” for the project “Children's Clinic Glanzing, the first PVC-free Neonatal Intensive Care Unit”. This project was also presented in Brussels before the decision on the chemicals regulation REACH was passed in the European Parliament. In 2007, the children's infection department with pediatric pulmonology was assigned to the Glanzing Children's Hospital . The restructured department comprised 12 wards with 180 beds, 65 doctors and 10 psychologists. The focus is on general paediatrics, neonatology, pulmonology, infectious diseases and psychosomatics.

In March 2012, Lischka ended his active hospital work. He continues to work in his pediatric practice in Vienna and as a court-sworn and certified expert as well as in the field of aviation medicine. In January 2019, Lischka was removed from the list of court experts in the field of paediatrics.
