Andreas Meihsies

Andreas Meihsies (born March 23, 1960 in Lüneburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After attending secondary school, Meihsies did an apprenticeship with the Deutsche Bundespost . From 1975 until his election to the state parliament he was employed in the postal service.

Meihsies had been a member of the Greens since 1983. Since 1986 he was councilor of the city of Lüneburg and chairman of the local Green parliamentary group. From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament. In the state elections in 2008 , he was in 14th place on the state list of the Greens, but the Greens only received twelve seats. Meihsies then announced that he would return to the postal service after a professional break; He continued his commitment to local politics. In the 2009 federal election he ran for the Greens in the Lüchow-Dannenberg-Lüneburg constituency , but as expected did not win the direct mandate. After he was not reappointed to the city council by the Greens in February 2016, he resigned the parliamentary group chairmanship and left the party a little later.

Andreas Meihsies is a member of BUND , AIDS-Hilfe and the Öko-Institut .
