Andreas Oettel (* 1974 in Ulm ) is a German basketball official .

career

Oettel passed his Abitur in 1994 and began working as a self-employed entrepreneur during his subsequent community service. On August 17, 2001 he founded Basketball Ulm GmbH (later: BBU '01 GmbH) with Thomas Stoll , Ralf Buck and Werner Sailer and took over the game operations of the Ratiopharm Ulm basketball team . Oettel, who completed a degree in business administration at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, became the managing director responsible for the company's financial management, and Stoll as managing director for sporting events. Buck and Sailer later retired from the company. Looking back, Oettel described his entry into the basketball business in 2016 as a “coincidence”: “In the summer of 2001 after the major bankruptcy at the time, everything was down. At that time, Thomas Stoll wanted to rebuild Ulm basketball and was looking for more 'crazy people' ”, Oettel described to“ Trendyone ”the beginning of his entrepreneurial activity in professional basketball. Under the direction of Oettels and Stoll, the team rose to the basketball league  in 2006 and established itself in the top of the league in the following years: Ulm was German runner-up in 2012 and 2016.

In December 2011 ratiopharm Ulm moved into a new large sports hall, which was later referred to as “a turning point for the Ulm Bundesliga club”. Other important events of his tenure as managing director were, among others, winning the Ulm Marketing Prize in November 2013, and another award two years later (this time in the “Individual Marketing Service” category for an event on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the cathedral tower). as well as the start of the construction of a youth training center in November 2018.

In July 2018, Oettel was elected to the board of the basketball division, previously he was a member of the supervisory board of BBL GmbH.
