Andreas Taft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas Taft (* around 1213; † 1294 ) was a Florentine mosaic worker who had learned from the Greek sculptor Appolonius (Archias son). He persuaded Appolonius, who was working at St. Mark's Church in Venice , to go to Florence with him.

Taft made the 7 cubits high image of Christ in St. John's Church in Florence. His student Gaddo Gaddi soon surpassed him.
