Sezer Akgül (born April 27, 1988 in Amasya ) is a Turkish wrestler . He was runner- up in free style bantamweight world champion in 2009 .

Career

Sezer Akgül started wrestling as a teenager in 1999. He also became a member of the Amasya Seker Spor Kulübü sports club . Throughout his career, he joined the sports club TEDAS Ankara and Sports Club Istanbul IBB He wrestles exclusively in free style and was and is of Yüksel Sanli , Cahit Ahrskalioglu, Ali Reza Kaser, Ismail Zurnacci and coach Adem Bereket trained. At a height of 1.55 meters, he starts in bantamweight.

He made his first start in an international championship at the Junior European Championship 2006 in Szombathely , where he finished 11th. He did much better at the international championships in 2007. This year he started at the European Seniors Championships in Sofia , where he immediately won an EM bronze medal . He lost against Manfred Ewald from Germany and defeated Mariusz Walkowiak from Poland in the battle for 3rd place . He then won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade , placing himself behind Opan Sat from Russia and Tim Schleicher from Germany. At the Junior World Championships in Beijing in 2007 , he came after a semi-final victory over Tim Schleicher in the final, in which he lost to Jamal Otarsultanov from Russia and thus became junior vice world champion . Finally, he also started at the Senior World Championships this year. He came to victories in Baku over Gotscha Kirkitadze from Georgia , Amiran Kartanow from Greece and Firas Al Ali Rifae from Syria , but lost to Bajaraagiin Naranbaatar from Mongolia and Ryswan Hadschyjeu from Belarus and took a good 5th place.

In 2008 he again won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Tampere , which he won after defeating Ryswan Hajyjeu by defeating Tim Schleicher . Somewhat disappointing for him was his performance at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul , because he only came 7th in the bantamweight division after a defeat in his third fight against the Mongols Damdinbadsaryn Tsogtbaatar . At the Olympic Games in Beijing he lost in his first fight against Tomohiro Matsunaga from Japan , but then defeated Adama Diatta from Senegal and lost in his next fight against Dilschod Mansurow from Uzbekistan , which resulted in his departure. In the final accounts he only came in 11th place.

In 2009 he won the Mediterranean Games in Pescara . After renouncing the European Championship this year, he achieved the greatest success of his career at the World Championship in Herning / Denmark , because he was there with victories over Urs Wild , Switzerland , Namig Sewdimow , Azerbaijan , Kim Hyo-sub , South Korea and Viktor Lebedew , Russia and a defeat in the final fight against Yang Kyong-il from North Korea Vice World Champion .

In 2010 Sezer Akgül could not repeat the successes of 2009. At the European Championships in Baku he came in bantamweight after a victory over Adrian Hajduk from Poland and a defeat against Andrei Dukow from Romania only on the 8th place. He performed even weaker at this year's World Cup in Moscow . However, it is unclear what place he occupied there. In the database of the Institute for Applied Training Sciences in Leipzig, he is ranked 27th after a defeat in his first fight against Obenson Blanc from the United States. In the list of results in the database of the World Wrestling Federation Fila, however, he is ranked 12th. So it still needs to be clarified which place it actually occupied. However, there are some indications that the Fila results list is wrong, because there is probably a mix-up with Urs Wild from Switzerland and Sezer Akgül actually only took 27th place.
