Hassan Rahimi Farman (born June 15, 1989 in Tehran ) is an Iranian wrestler . He became the 2013 free style bantamweight world champion .

Career

Hassan Rahimi started wrestling as a teenager in 2003 in his hometown of Tehran. He belongs to the Bakhman Wrestling Clug Tehran . Rasoul Deghan has been his trainer since 2003. He is a sports student and is only devoted to free style. At a height of 1.60 meters, he wrestles in the lightest weight class for men, the bantam weight, which reaches up to 55 kg body weight.

In 2007 he started as a junior for the first time in an international championship, the Junior World Championship in Beijing. In the weight class up to 50 kg he came in 5th place. In 2008 he did much better at international championships. In July 2008 he was Asian Junior Bantamweight Champion in Doha and in the same month he finished 2nd at the Junior World Championship in Istanbul. He lost in the final against the Russian Nariman Israpilow (0: 2 rounds, 1: 7 points), against whom he was to have many exciting duels in the following years.

In 2009 he made his senior debut. He came in 3rd place at the Asian Championships in Pattaya behind Kim Hyo-sub , South Korea and Yang Kyong-Il , North Korea. In August 2009 he became Junior World Champion with five wins in Ankara and was then used by the Iranian Wrestling Association at the Senior World Championships in Herning / Denmark. There, however, he could not quite meet expectations, because he lost after victories over Ramil Rejepow, Turkmenistan and Altinbek Alimbayew, Kyrgyzstan against Rizwan Gadschijew from Belarus and only finished 10th.

The year 2010 also brought disappointing results for Hassan Rahimi. He came in 7th place at the Asian Championships in New Delhi. In August 2010 he was military world champion in Lahti / Finland ahead of South Korean Lee Woo-joo, but at the world championships for seniors in Moscow in September 2010 he had to be content with 10th place again. He won there over Adrian Hajduk, Poland and Bessarion Gotschaschwili , Georgia, but was defeated by the Cuban Frank Chamizo Marquez , which meant his early departure. In November 2010 he was also used at the Asian Games. But even there he did not reach the medal ranks with 5th place.

At the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul, he then won a medal for the first time at a senior world championship. But he had to fight hard for this. He initially won over Andrei Dukov , Romania and Yang Kyong-Il, but was then defeated by the experienced ex-world champion Radoslaw Velikow from Bulgaria. Since this reached the final, he was able to continue in the consolation round and defeated there Wladislaw Andrejew , Belarus, Wladimer Khinchegashvili , Georgia and Nicholas Simmons from the United States. With these victories he secured a bronze medal. In doing so, he also earned the right to start the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In February 2012 Hassan Rahimi was Asian champion in Gumi / South Korea ahead of Yasuhiro Inaba , Japan and Amit Kumar from India. At the Olympic Games in London he was disappointed again. He came there in his first fight to a victory over Bajaraagiin Naranbaatar , Mongolia, but then surprisingly lost to Amit Kumar just (1: 2 rounds, 2: 2 points) on points and had to retire because Amit Kumar did not reach the final. So it was only 8th place for him.

In February 2013 he defeated Nariman Israpilow clearly on points in Tehran as part of the team world cup. The Iranian Wrestling Association remained loyal to him. He rewarded this loyalty with his victory at the 2013 World Cup in Budapest, where he won the world championship with victories over Rasoul Kalijew, Kazakhstan, Kim Sung-wong, South Korea, Alinbek Alimbayew, Nariman Israpilow and Amit Kumar.

In March 2014, Hassan Rahimi was used three times in the new weight class up to 57 kg as part of the Team World Cup in Los Angeles, which was won by Iran. He won over Angel Escobedo from the United States and Waruschan Kajojan, Armenia, each on points, but had to accept a point defeat in the final against Viktor Lebedev from Russia.
