Johann Nikolaus Sibeth (born February 28, 1734 in Lübeck , † October 10, 1809 there ) was a lawyer and temporarily councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Sibeth studied law in 1756 at the University of Jena and in 1758 at the University of Rostock . He received his doctorate as Dr. jur. In 1783 Sibeth was elected councilor in Lübeck, but dismissed from the council due to bankruptcy in 1795. In 1798 he became city governor of Lübeck in Travemünde . The seaside resort of Travemünde was founded during his tenure as city governor . Sibethstrasse in Travemünde was named after him in 1952.
