Andreas Weckwerth

Andreas Weckwerth (born May 14, 1974 in Cologne ) is a German Catholic church historian .

Life

Weckwerth attended the Collegium Josephinum Bonn from 1984 to 1993 . From 1993 to 2006 he studied Catholic theology, classical philology (Latin and Greek) and history at the University of Bonn , where he obtained his degree in Catholic theology in 1999 . In 2003 he was with a thesis on the first Council of Toledo in Church History doctorate . At the same time he passed the first state examination in Latin philology and Catholic religious studies .

In 2006 he became the dissertation sequence, organization and self-image of Western antique synods in the mirror of its files to the Dr. phil. PhD. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Bonn.

In 2015 , Weckwerth completed his habilitation in the subject of Ancient Church History / Patrology at the University of Mainz with a thesis on concepts of cultic purity in late antiquity. Since the 2016/17 winter semester, he has been the chair of Ancient Church History and Patrology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt , which he took over on January 1, 2018.
