Career
Andreas Zaugg has been playing with Rafael Stadelmann since 1992. After several silver and bronze medals at the Swiss schoolchildren’s championships, they won the junior’s championship in 2001 and were promoted directly to the first division. Already in their first year with the active players they were promoted to the national league B and the following year they were promoted to the national league A, the top division in Switzerland. In 2007, in their fourth season in the NLA, they won the silver medal in the Swiss Cup and qualified for the World Cup final in Dornbirn . Two years later they won the Swiss Cup and took third place, the first medal in the NLA. In the following years they could twice as a substitute team at the world championship and won several medals at the Swiss championship, in the cup and in world cup tournaments.
In 2013, Andreas Zaugg announced that he would end his career after 21 years after the Swiss championship final in his home hall in Oftringen. After a very emotional final game against Mosnang, he symbolically handed over his bike to Samuel Niklaus, who will compete in the NLA with Rafael Stadelmann from next season. Shortly afterwards, however, he had to play again in the play-off against Winterthur. After the 0-0 after regular playing time, the Oftringer won the four-meter shootout. With this victory, Andreas Zaugg won the Swiss championship title at the end of his career and the opportunity to be a substitute team for the last time at the 2013 World Cup in Basel.
