Rafael Stadelmann (born November 19, 1984 ) is a former Swiss cycling player from VC Oftringen . After 22 years, he ended his active cycling career in September 2014 after the World Cup tournament in Oftringen. He played most of his career with Andreas Zaugg .
Career
Rafael Stadelmann has been playing with Andreas Zaugg since 1992. After several silver and bronze medals at the Swiss schoolchildren’s championships, they won the junior’s championship in 2001 and were promoted directly to the first division. Already in their first year with the active players they were promoted to the national league B and the following year they were promoted to the national league A, the top division in Switzerland. In 2007, in their fourth season in the NLA, they won the silver medal in the Swiss Cup and qualified for the World Cup final in Dornbirn . Two years later they won the Swiss Cup and took third place, the first medal in the NLA. In the following years they could twice as a substitute team at the world championship and won several medals at the Swiss championship, in the cup and in world cup tournaments.
In 2013 his partner Andreas Zaugg ended his career after the SM final in Oftringen with the Swiss championship after 21 years together. Rafael Stadelmann played the following season with Samuel Niklaus in the NLA. After finishing third in the Swiss Cup, they narrowly missed the final with seventh place in the Swiss championship. Rafael Stadelmann also ended his cycling career with the domestic World Cup tournament in Oftringen.
