Andreas von Beneschau and Tworkau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas von Beneschau and Tworkau (also Ondřej von Benešov and Tvorkov ; Czech Ondřej z Tvorkova ; † after 1264) was a Bohemian nobleman from the Beneschau family and founder of the Moravian branch of the family from Tworkau ( z Tvorkova ).

Life

Andreas / Ondřej came from the Bohemian noble family of the Beneschauer ( Benešovci ). His father was Wok / Vok von Beneschau, which is documented for the years 1218-1250. Wok probably had eight sons, five of whom established separate branches of the family.

Andreas / Ondřej is documented for the years 1248–1264. Together with his brother Benesch / Beneš (II.) Von Lobenstein ( Cvilín ) he took part in the battle of the Bohemian King Ottokar II Přemysl in 1253 in the defense of the Opava region against the incursions of the Hungarian king Béla IV and his Polish and Galician allies . Presumably for this reason he received the town of Tworkau / Tvorkov, northeast of Opava, from the king . The predicate “von Tworkau / z Tvorkova”, which his descendants also used, is derived from her. That is why he is considered the progenitor of this family branch. Andreas / Ondřej is documented for the last time in 1264.

family

Andreas / Ondřej's wife is not known by name. They had a son of the same name, Andreas / Ondřej, who in 1288 held the post of judge of the Moravian province of Opava ( judex provincialis ). They also probably had a son, Milota, who died in 1305.
