Andrew Bree

Andrew Bree (born March 16, 1981 in Helen's Bay , County Down , Northern Ireland ) is a Northern Irish swimmer . His specialty is the breaststroke .

Andrew Bree starts for Club Ards , but is currently training in Tennessee / USA . In 2000 he started for Ireland at the Olympic Games for the first time , but did not get beyond the heats. His greatest success to date was then three years later at the European Short Course Championships in Dublin . Inspired by the home advantage, he won silver behind Ian Edmond on his special course 200 meters breastplate . He could not qualify for the Olympic Games in Athens . At the 2006 Commonwealth Games , he swam for Northern Ireland starting a national record over 200 meters chest.

Bree participated in the 2008 Olympics. His participation was initially questionable after a drug test positive for methamphetamine in 2007, but only one warning was issued.
