Andrew Davidson, 2nd Viscount Davidson
John Andrew Davidson, 2nd Viscount Davidson (born December 22, 1928 in Westminster, † July 20, 2012 ), was a British peer and conservative politician.
Youth and education
Davidson was the eldest son of JCC Davidson, 1st Viscount Davidson , and Frances , daughter of Willoughby Dickinson, 1st Baron Dickinson . He went to Westminster School and Pembroke College (Cambridge) . From 1947 to 1949 he did his military service with The Black Watch and the 5th Battalion of the King's African Rifles .
Political career
Davidson moved into the House of Lords after his father's death in 1970 . He was under the government of Margaret Thatcher and John Major Lord-in-Waiting and was Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard from 1986 to 1991 . He lost his seat in the House of Lords under the House of Lords Act 1999 .
family
Lord Davidson was married twice. He married Margaret Birgitta daughter of Cyril Henry Norton in 1956 . They had four children and were divorced in 1974. His second wife was Pamela Joy, daughter of John Vergette, whom he married in 1975. The marriage remained childless.
Viscount Davidson died on July 20, 2012 at the age of 83. Heir to his title Viscount Davidson was his brother Malcolm William Mackenzie Davidson (* 1934).
