Andrew Noah Cap
Andrew Noah Cap (born January 7, 1969 in Somerset-West , South Africa ) is a South African composer and trumpeter .
He started playing the trumpet at the age of 10. In 1973 the family moved to Germany for professional reasons. At the age of 14 he took over the direction of the school orchestra. The constantly changing line-up forced him to arrange pieces or to compose new pieces. This was followed by private composition studies, master class trumpet (Heinz Rose, 1st trumpeter Stadttheater Trier) and employment as a chorus wind player with the US Airforce Big Band Hahn AB.
Today the list of his works includes over 250 original compositions and over 100 arrangements, mainly for symphonic wind orchestras , but also for symphony orchestras and ensembles .
His works are characterized by an unorthodox style. In the symphonic wind orchestra , for example, all instrument families have their own, harmonized lines instead of the usual composition technique of layering.
