Andrius Šimkus

Andrius Šimkus (born June 24, 1961 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian correspondence chess player and internist.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1979 with distinction at the Jonas Jablonskis Middle School in Kaunas, Šimkus studied medicine with distinction from 1979 to 1985 at the Medical Academy of the University of Health Sciences of Lithuania and in 1986 the medical boarding school . From 1991 to 1992 he continued his education in the USA, after which he worked at the Jonava Hospital . From 1986 to 1992 he was a doctor at the polyclinic of the Jonava district community . From 1993, Šimkus worked in his company “Therapia scientifica”.

Since 1996, Šimkus has held the title of International Correspondence Chess Master. He received the title for his result in the 1993-99 European Championship, in which he finished fourth.

His highest rating in correspondence chess was 2548 in 1995.
