Andy Liebing (born December 24, 1969 in Berlin ) is a former German professional boxer.

amateur

Andy Liebing boxed as an amateur for TSC Berlin and in 1987 took part in the Junior World Championships in Cuba . There he beat Roy Jones on points and finished in third place. In 1988 he also took third place at the GDR championships.

Professional career

After a break of almost ten years, Andy Liebing switched to professional life in 1997 and initially boxed in the middleweight division. The trained chimney sweep was trained by Erwin Sahm in his spare time. In his professional debut, he lost to Jerry Elliott by TKO (Technical Knockout) in the first round. In October 2000 Liebing lost to Stephan Trabant in the eighth round in the fight for the German middleweight championship.

In April 2001 he secured the title of German middleweight champion with a points win over Danny Thiele and then rose one weight class higher to the super middleweight division. In 2002 Andy Liebing also won the German championship in the super middleweight division. In April 2003 he jumped in at short notice as a substitute opponent and boxed in Copenhagen against the Dane Mads Larsen and lost by knockout in the fifth round. Andy Liebing ended his professional career after another defeat against Armand Krajnc.
