Andy Tipaldi (* 1894 in New York City , † 1969 in Montreal ) was a Canadian banjo player.

Tipaldi and his brother, the violinist John Tipaldi , came to Montreal in 1917 and performed there in the Jardin de Danse . In 1921 they became members of the Melody Kings , a group that consisted of five to nine members and which over the years included pianist Billy Munro , drummer Rob Roy , trombonist Al Gagnon , trumpeters Harry Louci , Rip Doucette and Robert Rochon and saxophonists Léo Dufault and Alex Lajoie . In 1923 the brothers took over the management of the ensemble, which they renamed the Melody Kings Dance Orchestra . The orchestra has performed at the Jardin de Danse , Chez Maurice Danceland and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel , among others , and can be heard regularly on the CKAC radio station. Between 1923 and 1924 his Master's Voice recorded forty recordings in the Montreal studio , and in 1926 recordings under the title Andy Tipaldi & His Orchestra on the Starr label.

In addition, Tipaldi performed with the Ritz-Carlton Orchestra and the Billy Monro Orchestra until the Melody Kings dissolved. In the 1929 stock market crash he lost large parts of his property and then ran a club, again without financial success. From 1942 until his death he headed the local 406 of the American Federation of Musicians .
