Andrew Gordon "Andy" Wilkinson (born August 8, 1984 in Stone ) is a former English football player who played primarily in defense . He was most recently under contract with Stoke City .

Career

In his youth, Wilkinson played for Stoke City at the club's youth academy. His chances of an early first-team debut were hampered by multiple injuries. In the 2005/2006 season, too, Wilkinson had to struggle with several injuries, particularly with his knee. The tendinitis diagnosed with him forced him to take a break of four months. In March of the same season he celebrated his comeback. But this was only for a short time, because after three games he injured himself again - this time on the ankle. As well as he played for Stoke, he was loaned out to Telford United , Partick Thistle and Shrewsbury Town in turn . During 2006 he was loaned to Blackpool , this measure should take effect permanently, but Blackpool had no interest in a transfer.
