Aneta Kopacz

Aneta Kopacz (* 1975 ) is a Polish screenwriter and film director who was nominated for the Oscar for best documentary short film with Joanna at the 2015 Academy Awards . Kopacz studied psychology at the University of Warsaw and completed postgraduate studies at the Reportażu Laboratory . She also studied at Andrzej Wajda's master school for film directing in Warsaw .

According to Kopacz, he became aware of Joanna, suffering from cancer, through a press report, who told her story on the Chustka blog . She got in touch with Joanna during a public screening of a report and she agreed to have her story filmed by Kopacz, although she had previously turned down offers from well-known filmmakers. The project was funded through crowdfunding , which was facilitated by the popularity of Joanna's blog in Poland. The film was completed in early 2013, Joanna passed away in October 2012.

Kopacz is married and has one daughter.
