Fishing golf (also known as fun golf or fun casting in the initial phase) is a combination of casting and golfing , which was invented in 2006 by the Berlin angler and casting athlete Thorsten Waschnig.

General

In fishing golf, the fishing golf ball (golf ball with fastening eyelet) is not played with a golf club, but with a fishing rod over the course into the hole. The throws required for each lane are counted. Fishing golf is played on 6-, 9- and 18-hole golf courses .

The sports equipment

The fishing golf ball is played with standard fishing rods. Due to the ball's weight of around 40 grams, the choice of rod is usually carp or surf rods . Normal fishing lines are used as the line. The decision for braided or monofilament lines is up to the player. For safety reasons, the cord thickness must be at least a quarter of a millimeter (0.25 mm). A thicker chalk line than for surf fishing is recommended.

Tournament schedule

At casting tournaments, depending on the number of participants, there are longer waiting times between the various competition disciplines. The reason for this is the space available, which only allows a limited number of competition tracks. At fishing golf, a group can start on each golf course. The group size depends on the number of participants and their ability, but should not exceed 5 people if possible. Up to 80-100 people can play at the same time. In 2007 the first fishing golf tournament took place in the Berlin area. Back then it was still on a larger meadow. In 2008 the first tournament took place on a 9-hole golf course. At this point the sport was already known beyond the Brandenburg area and athletes from Rhineland-Palatinate could also be welcomed.
