Angelika Kordfelder

Angelika Kordfelder (born January 1, 1955 in Essen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was mayor of the city of Rheine from October 10, 2004 to September 13, 2015, making her the first woman in this office.

Life

Kordfelder began her professional career in the administration of justice, later studied social work and educational science with a focus on social administration and cultural education, and did her doctorate on the subject of cultural youth education processes. Subsequently, Kordfelder was employed as a lecturer at the University of Essen for almost ten years and worked as a freelancer in the field of migration, among other things.

Kordfelder sat for the SPD for several years in the city council of Essen , where she was deputy parliamentary group leader. The focus of their engagement was on the topics of culture and finance.

Angelika Kordfelder is widowed and has an adult daughter. In 2014 and 2015 she ran for the mayor's office within the party. On January 26th, 2015 she was defeated by the incumbent Reinhard Pass in the party vote.
