Applied meteorology

The term applied meteorology is a collective term for the specialized areas of application of meteorology . These include:

  • Weather forecast - short-term forecast of weather developments.
  • Technical meteorology - the impact of meteorological relationships on technical areas.
  • Agricultural and Biometeorology - Influences of the weather on living beings or the biosphere in the broadest sense.
  • Traffic meteorology - Advice and security with regard to the importance of meteorological conditions on road traffic, shipping and especially aviation.
  • Hydrometeorology - research into the water cycle in the atmosphere as a common discipline with hydrology .
