course
The village of Kravica, inhabited by Serbs, is located in the immediate vicinity of Bratunac near Srebrenica in the eastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina , on the connecting road from Bratunac to Vlasenica .
On January 7, 1993, the Serbian Orthodox Christmas, the village was attacked by units of the Bosnian army led by Naser Orić . The Bosnian soldiers (all Bosniaks) came from several villages in the Srebrenica enclave. Christmas Day was deliberately chosen as the date of the attack. 49 Serbs were killed, up to 86 were seriously injured and 5 are still missing today. The youngest victim, Vladimir Gajić, was four years old and Novica Bogičević 14. Mara Božić was the oldest at 84 years old. The village was eventually looted, 688 Serbian houses were set on fire, the Serbian Orthodox Church razed to the ground and graves desecrated. Around 30 places around Kravica were also set on fire, more than 1000 civilians fled and found refuge in Serbia .
accusation
So far only Naser Orić has been investigated. He had later admitted that he was in command of the attack. He was convicted on March 28, 2003 by the Hague Tribunal on several counts, including for the destruction of property belonging to Kravica residents. On June 30, 2006, he was sentenced to two years in prison .
In the subsequent appeal process, the Bosnian general was acquitted of all charges.
