Angry IP Scanner is free software for searching network participants and for port scans . Angry IP Scanner can be used in corporate network security checks.

The software searches for network participants in a previously specified IP range. Various techniques are used to detect whether a subscriber is online: ICMP echo pinging, UDP packet pinging and TCP port probe. Furthermore, under certain conditions, the software can determine additional information such as the host name , NetBIOS information and the MAC address . Ports can be specified to check whether they are open.

The results can be exported either as TXT , CSV , XML or LST. The program can also be addressed via the command line ( CLI ).

Angry IP Scanner was part of a c't software collection in 2008 .
