Anicet Saussé (born February 5, 1969 in Mazingarbe ) is a former French football player .

Career

Saussé was born near the city of Lens and trained in the youth department of the local professional club RC Lens . In 1989 he moved into the squad of the first team, which had previously been relegated to the second division . Although there was generally a strong focus on youth in Lens, the 20-year-old Saussé initially had great difficulties establishing himself and made four appearances in his first season. The departure of Jacques Canosi at the end of the season changed little, so that he did not make more than ten completed games in the second season. However, he was able to celebrate promotion to the first division with the team in 1991 . He posted twelve appearances in the only first division season of his career. Because he could not establish himself in his third season in the team, he was loaned to the second-rate FC Martigues in 1992 . With Martigues he managed to get promoted, but Saussé did not get as much match experience as hoped. Accordingly, those responsible at Martigues decided not to commit the player. He returned to Lens, but was loaned to Olympique Alès a short time later . For Alès he entered the relegation battle in the second division, but could not convince there either. At the end of the 1993/94 season, Alès also decided against a commitment. Instead, Saussé found a new employer in third-rate Valenciennes FC . In Valenciennes he got a little more to the train than in his previous stations, but had to leave the club when it went bankrupt in 1996. The then 27-year-old Saussé then decided to retire. He refrained from further activities in football and took over a car dealership in Houdain .
